Why do you need a daily morning routine for success?
What you do in the morning – good or bad – sets the tone for the day. And your habits determine the quality of your life.
Routines can be challenging for many people. Whether it's time, or motivation that prevent us from establishing healthy habits, a lack of routine can actually prevent you from achieving your goals.
The simple act of forming a routine can help provide structure and help create healthy habits that make a BIG DIFFERENCE in the long run.
As we begin to form a new habit, we improve our brain capacity, which in turn makes forming good habits easier.
The more times we walk down a path, the more well-worn that path becomes, which makes it increasingly easier to follow it as time goes on.
Forming a healthy routine can help us achieve our health goals, weight loss goals, career goals, energy levels, and so much more! So when the habits we choose are also health-promoting, the benefits are truly boundless.
All that said, with the stress of our everyday lives, working a new habit into an already rushed morning can seem daunting, if not impossible.
The good news is that it really doesn’t have to be complicated!
You don’t need to form an elaborate morning workout plan, or sit down to schedule every minute of your day. In fact, the simplest habits are the most impactful.
The word "pandiculation" is a fancy word for stretching, but it's much more than that. Pandiculation is a contraction of a muscle, followed by a slow and steady release. Think of a cat yawning, as you stretch your arms up overhead after a nice long sleep.
Pandiculation is a natural biological response to prolonged stillness in the body. This process gives our nervous system feedback around tension in our muscles, while simultaneously releasing tension, and preparing our bodies for movement.
This basic move is so simple, yet SO supportive to our physical and emotional health! Make pandiculation a more conscious part of your morning by taking just a few seconds to consciously stretch out your whole body when you wake up.
If muscle tension or soreness is a chronic issue for you, a bit of a magnesium boost may be supportive. Check outOrganic Pressed Greens orRevive Beets + Roots for an extra kick of naturally-occuring magnesium from plants, and a host of other health-supporting nutrients.
This may seem like a no-brainer, but many of us forget to hydrate first thing in the morning! Staying hydrated supports the function of all your organs. Whether you'd like a clearer complexion, better digestion, or overall detoxification, a big glass of water in the morning is the first step.
This gives a great opportunity to work in more healthful nutrients, too! If you'd like something more exciting than water, consider an energizing glass ofOrganic Pressed Greens, or if you prefer a citrus boost, the deliciousImmunity Wellness. Both juices are packed with superfood ingredients that will support better hydration and great energy, for longer periods of time.
Eating first thing in the morning kick-starts our metabolisms, and improves our brain function. Make sure you always get a high-protein, high-fiber meal before getting into any work, exercise, or socializing. Your body craves it and you're less likely to experience brain fog, muscle soreness or weakness, and dips in energy or mood throughout the day.
Making a whole, balanced meal before getting anything else done is not always quick and easy. That’s why our deliciousCut Cravings Smoothie is the perfect breakfast that is LOADED with all the whole plant food protein, fiber and plant nutrients to fuel you all day. It’s packed with creamy goodness and is so delicious, it’s been compared to ice cream.

With our busy lives, we so rarely take time to clear the mind, and just breathe. The benefits of meditation, or even a quick moment of silence and centering in our day cannot be overstated.
Breathing deeply, with our whole body, has benefits for every one of our organs, and bodily functions. Taking a moment for yourself will improve your mood, and energy throughout your whole day. Whether it's before breakfast, or before you leave the house, taking a few minutes to deeply breathe is one of the kindest things you can do for your body.
Journaling is therapeutic in so many ways, but it doesn’t have to be writing out every thought and feeling. Journaling can be as simple as setting an intention, or making a list.
Consider starting your day by waking up and immediately writing down 3 things you’re grateful for. Whether it’s for your loved ones, your health, your job, or an event you’re looking forward to, the effects are fast and far-reaching when you start your day off with gratitude.
Journaling can also support your habit-formation goals! Before adding something to your routine, write out a list of all the potential benefits or reasons behind your goal. After 30 days, make a list of all the benefits your routine has brought to your life.
Work in one new habit at a time, and remember it’s not the end of the world if you miss a day or two. Just revisit your lists, remember what you’re striving for, and send yourself some loving kindness, with acknowledgement and understanding of the challenges in forming a consistent routine. You'll see improved commitment if you embody self-love in your healthy choices.
Bottom line, if you want to create a productive morning routine that can change your life, you need to be in it for the long-haul.
Nothing will work unless you’re consistent.
As the classical greek philosopher Aristotle once said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.”
So, let’s commit to a healthier morning routine!
